Thermal springs, health and fun
The town is known for its hot springs, located 7 km off downtown. The Parque das Termas de Ibirá features placid ponds, a tiny island and a small peninsula, which is home to native geese. It is also home to the town’s bath house, Balneário Evaristo Mendes de Seixas, which is very popular among people interested in the properties of its vanadic water, used to control diabetes and gastric treatments.
Located in São José do Rio Preto area, Ibirá became famous during the 1940’s when gambling was legal in Brazil. Back then, visitors would allot their time between the casinos at Grande Hotel and medicinal treatments at the bath house.
The renovation of the Grande Hotel boosted tourism-related activities in this quaint town that also features the Parque Termas de Ibirá, with leisure for the entire family.
